Tanya Fir, your UCP candidate for Calgary-Peigan

Like many other first generation Canadians whose parents came to Canada, I come from a hardworking
home. I was born in Cranbrook, B.C. and moved to Calgary in 1985. My father was a carpenter and my
mother worked in the meat department at Safeway. The greatest character trait my parents, through
example, taught my two sisters and I was there is no substitute for hard work. I was valedictorian of
both my Junior High and Lord Beaverbrook High School, and earned a Bachelor of Commerce with a
concentration in Management of Organizations and Human Resources from the University of Calgary.
As a Human Resources Advisor in Alberta’s Oil and Gas industry for over 19 years, I am passionate about
bringing my private sector experience to a role in government. I currently work for Canadian Natural
Resources Limited (CNRL), I am a Chartered Professional in Human Resources (CPHR), and an
enthusiastic volunteer with Calgary Reads. I would be honoured to represent the constituents of
Calgary-Peigan and I will fiercely defend Alberta.
